Monadnock Writers’ Group and especially the Smoky Quartz editorial team would like to thank Sara Miller and Louise Werden for their contributions to the journal these past years. Both have retired from their positions as editors for Smoky Quartz.

Sara joined the editorial team in 2015 and Louise joined in 2019. Both played a role in guiding Smoky Quartz into its tenth year, as well as publishing the Smoky Quartz Tenth Anniversary Anthology.

We wish them the best in their next writerly adventures.

Monadnock Writers’ Group is co-hosting a literary storytelling performance by MWG member Sebastian Lockwood. If you have never seen Sebastian perform, prepare to be transported to the magic, mazes, and monsters of Homer’s Odysseus!

The NH Humanities Council sponsors this event. Admission is free for the public; meat or veggie lasagna will be available for $10 a plate. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Greenfield Community Meetinghouse.

Featuring Alice Fogel, former NH Poet Laureate; Rodger Martin, Keene State Professor of Creative Writing; Maura MacNeil, New England College Professor; Jennifer Edwards, Pushcart Prize nominated poet; and Denise Ginzler, poet and writer; reading work from the Smoky Quartz Tenth Anniversary Anthology.

Smoky Quartz is a journal of literature and art published by the Monadnock Writers’ Group. The Toadstool Bookshop has been supporting readers and writers since 1972.
