SMOKY QUARTZ Anthology Release & Reading

SMOKY QUARTZ Anthology Release & Reading

On Sunday, November 13, from 2 – 4 p.m., Monadnock Writers’ Group (MWG) is celebrating the release of the Smoky Quartz Tenth Anniversary Anthology. This event, co-sponsored by the Peterborough Town Library, will be held in the 1833 Room. All are welcome. Come meet the editors, authors, and artists of Smoky Quartz. Listen to a selection of poetry and stories from the anthology, read by the authors, and enjoy a slide show of artwork. Copies will be available for sale. Refreshments will be provided.

MWG published its first issue of Smoky Quartz, an online journal of literature and art, in 2012 at www.smokyquartz.org. The journal features the work of writers and artists with ties to New Hampshire. Ten years and sixteen issues later, MWG has published the first print edition, the Smoky Quartz Tenth Anniversary Anthology. Featuring cover art by local artist Barbara Danser, the 168-page anthology contains 77 poems, 6 stories, and 24 works of art.

Since 1984, the Monadnock Writers’ Group (MWG) has supported local writers of all genres and levels of achievement. The group’s free monthly speaker series features accomplished writers who share their experiences and expertise with members of MWG and the public. In addition, MWG publishes anthologies in print, and Smoky Quartz, an online journal of literature and art. MWG hosts public readings and informal gatherings to raise awareness of the literary talent in the Monadnock Region.  Learn more at www.monadnockwriters.org.
