THE TALE OF GALAXY CQ 4479

There’s been a new find
about big black holes,
confirmed by observations
of Galaxy CQ 4479.

Energetic black holes
consume matter so quickly
that they spin and glow,
creating bright quasars
known by their knack
to halt the birth of new
stars in their tracks.

But CQ 4479 doesn’t quite fit
that old galactic mold
– instead of dying
it has given birth
to hundreds of new stars
while hardly trying.
